The magnetic compass dial was introduced by Fraser in the late 18th century. It consisted in a horizontal sundial mounted on a compass plate. The compass would automatically seek magnetic North and the sundial would immediately indicate the time without any adjustment being necessary by its owner.

This large compass is made of wood and brass. The cover  is a marine plate, it is made of metal with a bronze coating. Carries a booklet with history and instructions.

It´s accompanied by a booklet with history and instructions for use.
